Many threads and rumors have popped up today about CAL and a possible ownership change with Scott Valencia in control.

Just to put those rumors to rest, I spoke with Scott today and he's very confused why his email and phone are both blowing up.

He asked that I make a post to let people know he is in no way involved with CAL at this time.

In the CAL League IRC channel, CAL admins are saying that the new owners locked out all the current CAL Admins and put the league in limbo. Users were to email Mr. Valencia for questions.

Apparently the site for CAL has changed. It is now:

That site is probably made by some bored raged kid at the time.

However, i would be extremely interested in starting a free league simular to what CAL and CPL use to be in 2002-2005ish era. I am willing to drop a good 6-8k into coding, design and special features into this. You can flame all you want about CAL but name a better free 5v5 league that supports as many games, and teams as CALeague.

If anyone knows a capable coder TEAM (as its to big of a project for one guy) - i have already talked with IMG - I'm working on a buisness model to stay afloat.. let alone with the way the market is now. But honestly, any and all input that people would like to see in a league would help

That's ironic, considering ESL America hasn't even started yet..

From www.cplholdings.com (http://www.cplholdings.com) :

On March 6, 2009 it will be eight years since we launched the online league named Cyberathlete Amateur League, or CAL. As previously announced, CAL was sold to the newly formed CPL Holdings Group, LTD., of the United Arab Emirates.

A few weeks ago the acquisition was finalized and this weekend we have commenced the process of transferring CAL to new host servers in the United Kingdom. While we are hoping for minimum interruption to CAL operations, it is likely that you will experience downtime while trying to access the CAL website.

Please bear with us as we complete the transfer process to the new owners.

Hey Lake,

Will the g7 organization still be boycotting CPL even though it is under new management?

that's a good question, I was wondering the same thing =/

Would be a pretty dumb move, considering we don't know what is in store from this new management.

However, locking out the entire league, could spell bad things :|

CPL may have new owners but the management is still the same, atleast from what I read. Those that are the most tenured with CPL and likewise events/CAL are still heavily involved with it, and may continue you to actually run it.

Again this is all off of stuff I read, so I don't know how much is truth or fiction.

I used to want to do that, but couldn't find people to help me.

I wouldn't kill myself doing this

Seeing as ESL has this covered.

Free 5v5 League... better AC and it bans off of demos

Yeah, but the thing is is that even ESL has some flaws. And with his thinking and ideas, he can create a league that has a solution for those flaws and such and he can see how other leagues work in order to perfect his league.
