Anyone here think the CPL should have paid of their debt before anouncing new things to come?

Company isn't obligated to and I don't see them doing it. The only thing I can see them doing is attempting to possibly turn the "CPL" around.

Unfortunately, I don't understand their reasoning behind purchasing the CPL and using their tarnished name, when they could have just built a new name.

Ah well, we'll see how this turns out no doubt.

Most of the cal admins that got fired, because they knew they were corrupt - formed the Eco League. CAL didn't get rid of admins because it was not going to be there, CAL did it because they knew they had a problem on their hand. When they are going to rebuild the CPL, why keep a crappy, corrupt CAL? :)

They had a lot of disputes that were randomly overturned for people who had friends that were CAL admins and so on. It was not ALL of the admins, only a spoiled few, but it ruined it for most of the others. They just gave advantages to friends.

Kind of a false interpretation of the situation few. CAL shut down after the new CPL purchased the rights to CAL, due to them wanting to focus their funding on CPL first. The staff were not fired for there "corruption" (word is thrown out to often in the wrong ways) Eco-League is being formed by former CAL Admins, and it should be an excellent free league.

Cal league admins were corrupt. Period. This is not to say that they didn't run a great league. Sure.

The bans were a joke

The admins were a joke

and I for one will not compete in a free league

with the same

shitty admins.

For the question at hand:

Should they pay the fees that the company owes? Yes.

Will they, do they need to? No.

Technically speaking, when you buy a company you buy its advantages and its disadvantages. I'm sure they purchased the CPL/CAL because of the name and connections it had behind it. The fact is: Angel Munoz did have sponsors under his belt. Even though he didn't pay teams doesn't mean that he didn't have the sponsors.

You buy the name, the title, the buisness.
..you also buy the debt
it should definitely be payed

The admins use to favor teams. So if one team would hack, and it wasn't blatantly hacking then they wouldn't over turn matches. Also they would be friends with teams, and if you said one word that even looked like you where talking shit. They would over turn matches for there friends team. They where messed up.

**BTW I do believe they should have paid off the debts and such--not only is it "right", but it should be done to clear some of the bad CPL's known traits, start anew--can be symbolic to some gamers.
