Today's Economy

Well I was in history class when my teacher asked us if we kept up with the economy. She stated that by the end of Q1 of '09 we will be very close to another Great Depression. (I was also studying about the first Great Depression of the United States in class) The economy being this bad, (except maybe the lowered-gas prices, because companies need to sell cars) having another depression is a scary thought, at least for me it is. What are you're opinions of the economy, and how will you prepare yourself for this?

I say keep buying foreign, so more people lose jobs so the economy keeps going further down the drain woooo!

Just have to be smart with the money you currently have. Work more while you can, cause you honestly never know.

Why should I buy American when foreign products are so much better? Seriously, American companies (mainly cars) need to realize its a global market now and if they want to compete they need better products. It is called capitalism. Oh look at that!

Every downside has its upside.
When ppl start losing jobs, the foreign ppl will be fired first. That means all the Polish, Germans, Portugese, etc who 'invaded' my country will start working in their own country again. (I mean this with no disrespect to anyone btw)

And my opinion is that the last thing we need now is everybody frightening each other which makes the economy go worse.

My opinion is also that this post sucks and that I couldve explained this 10 times better in my own language...

I really dont care if u do or not. But your economy is already screwed. Firing more and more people will only make it worse. Now all the people who were paying into the government are now taking money the government doesnt have for unemployment. And all those people paying into the pension plans are now no longer. And guess what, they're already not doing so hot.

Also since you brought up car companys. people need to realize ford gm chrysler if they claim bankrupt. The government will take over the company and cut a 100k+ jobs or so and then try to see if they can make a profit with the company. The money to fix the broken companys are coming from the tax payers :O so one way or another the tax payers will be paying to keep the american car company's alive. Just if the go bankrupt lots of jobs will be lost and u can see the above paragraph of what happens when that happens.

Better products blah blah blah all the car companys have over american is gas milage. And since america focused on big trucks and suvs because thats what america wanted(before the gas got ridiculous) obviously they're sales are going to plumet.

But i wasnt talking only about cars, i was talking about almost every thing you can buy in your local kmart or walmart that are oh so popular. No matter what other countries are going to beable to sell their products cheaper because they pay alot lower wages, and dont have nearly as strict safety guide lines meaning their products can be made faster.

if that machine was in a american factory there would be a huge metal fence around it, all the guards etc. Slowing down the proccess. If you want to match the "quality"(socks that disintegrate after 5 washes but you couldn't care less because u could get another 20 for 5 bucks) of foreign products, be prepared for dollar a hr work and no saftey regulations. Hell with all the saftey crap we have now i know a guy who got his arm crushed like a pancake in a metal press.

How amusing...if you look closely 'I' have never taken any part with invading the Indians. That however is not even the point, I was talking in an economic point of view, unlike some people.
