Hey everyone,

I haven't given anyone from the coL site an update in awhile about my current project, www.insideresports.com

To those who don't know or want to learn more:

Insider eSports is a gaming news and entertainment website, similar to other names like Cadred, GotFrag, etc. However, we are doing as many unique features and have (in my opinion) a more dedicated staff and more ideas than they currently possess. I wanted to let you all know that our official release is January 3rd.

Some of our ideas include the easiest forums to navigate (with the ability to subscribe to ANY thread; you don't need to favorite them in your browser anymore!), a full subscription system (subscribe to matches, demos, forums, writer columns; almost ANYTHING you want), and more!

Our whole website is one of the easiest websites to navigate and understand; web designer and web developer Alexandre Misson and Evan Dudla have worked VERY hard to make sure that everything YOU want is right in front of you; right on the homepage. We will continue to tune the website to readers wants.

We cover Counter Strike, Counter Strike: Source, Call of Duty 4, Soul Caliber 4, Team Fortress 2, and Starcraft. We also plan on covering World of Warcraft at major events or events that one of our primary games is being used as well.

Things have been going well, and we're getting ready for the release. Please check out both the site and our IRC channel. We can't wait to start because we are going to give you everything you need for 2009!

PM me questions on IRC; I [usually] answer every one I receive. Also, let me know what you want to see on the site and I'll do my best to include it, or add it on after the release!

Sounds ambitious... Not that you need any advice from me, but I have started many businesses from $100 capital to $150k capital and some have failed while others mainly 2 have succeeded. There is one thing that has always rang true in all my entrepreneurial endeavors don't go for the finish line right out of the gate. When you start your company you have an idea of where you will want to be in 1,5, and 10 years. Don't go for 10 in the beginning. Let your business grow over time.

The best times that I have made upgrades or invested in more overhead is when my current operation was bursting at the seams so I could invest knowing that I can handle things as they come. If you build an infrastructure to support e-sports coverage around the world try to make sure that you can support it through ups AND more importantly downs.

If you can't give the absolute best coverage internationally because of funds or staff then give the absolute best coverage locally. If you can't do it excellently, don't do it at all. Because if it's not excellent, it won't be profitable or fun, and if you're not in business for fun or profit, what the hell are you doing.

Saw the tour.. it feels like there's way to much stuff making it really confusing. Maybe its just me.

The dark colors also seem really depressing.

Overall it looks just OK, but only time will tell.

As much as I hate gotfrag, their websites visuals don't give me that dark feel.

Don't get me wrong though, im hoping for big things from insider e-sports. This is just my honest personal oppinion.

The colour scheme looks well thought out and easy to read, even though the layout looks complex it looks great for the amount of content its going to be packing :)

I do think that a lighter color scheme would be nice, but everything is already done. Maybe in version 2. Not too light, I don't like those websites that are like totally white with light colors, but a nice combination of a darker gray, nice blues/greens some silver and whitish background with dark fonts.

You have to consider that the website is loaded with information right on the home page so I decided to go for a functional and easy to read design rather than loading the page even more. That way you go straight to the information. Don't get me wrong, I take all critics very seriously and I do see where it can use some improvements, but that will come over time. I do think though that you will change your mind after browsing through the site for a bit. Thanks for your input.

And as for the "depressing look", you need to keep in mind that the video makes the colors look dull but on the actual website the orange is vivid, the blue is bright and the grays are more contrasted. Plus, the jazzy soundtrack choice plays a lot into the dark kind of feeling.

As long as there's a copious amount of articles and coverage on the cs1.6 scene both here and internationally there won't be any problems (at least with me :))
