View Full Version : Christmas Business Proposal
Mr. Sutphin
12-24-2008, 09:44 PM
To whom this may concern,
Within the last month, our name has popped up here and there due to the recent loss to Mr. Jason Lake and our corresponding message to Mr. Lake. Many viewed this outreach as a joke or hoax, while others willingly bought into our proposal. Unfortunately, the one person we had hoped to coerce into working with us, Jason himself, either did not receive our message or chose to ignore us. Regardless of the circumstances surrounding his syndicate, we are choosing to move forward.
We are The Businessmen.
Contrary to popular belief, we are a legit organization looking forward to the new possibilities 2009 will bring. To jump start our company into the new year, we would like to reach out to the community at large. Due to the economy, we are choosing to limit ourselves now until we can ensure ourselves and our clientele that we provide stable services. In honor of our grand opening for 2009, we are are deciding to sponsor a few lucky teams with competitive web hosting deals and professional web design projects.
Gaining sponsorship is incredibly easy. First, head over to http://www.the-businessmen.com/sponsor.html and read the rules for application. To help improve your odds of winning, we ask that applicants idle our channel (#businessmen on irc.gamesurge.net), and try to get our name out there. We offer web hosting deals and web design packages at the moment. Sponsorship applicants can help improve our business by spreading the word. Any client that signs up for one of our services based upon your referral automatically gives you a discount for our services if you are a non-sponsored client. If your team is sponsored and you provide us referrals, we offer added benefits to your sponsorship package.
The team(s) we decide to sponsor will be announced in January to coincide with the launch of our very own eSports organization.
So what is there to lose? Head over to http://www.the-businessmen.com/sponsor.html, idle #businessmen, and spread the word!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from us at #businessmen!
Respectfully,
Derek Sutphin

Ok so I did a little bit of checking up on this Mr. Derek and his "organization." I found some things to be interesting...
1. By posting this in an open forum your company losses anything it would have had going for it. There are plenty of teams out there that you can "sponsor" if you wanted to. There are top tier teams that are looking for sponsorships and they have reps that you could speak with. Instead of posting this nonsense here.
2. The tone that I get from your comment here is that your a little peeved that Jason won't give you the time of day. So you proceed to post on his forum looking for a team as if to show him that people are interested. Like he would care.
3. I whois looked up your website www.the-businessmen.com and your located in TN at a fake address. At least mapquest couldn't find you. 8762 Business Cove LOL.
4. Your e-mail is businessmen.sponsorship@gmail.com you couldn't even get a real "non-free" email?
5. I went on to myspace/facebook and looked for you fully expecting to find some 16 year old emo but I didn't. However I did find you: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/s.php?ref=ffs&init=q&k=100000020&q=Derek%20Sutphin&sid=8c59b20c30150e4f146971c96c933e2d
Now I cannot fully guarantee that this is you, however the person in this link belongs to 2 clubs the first 1 is Memphis, TN. Your website is registered to someone in Memphis, TN. That seems like too much of a coincidence to me for it not to be you. BTW I like the paint! The second club you belong to is Alabama`10. I can only deduce that you attend this school and the "10" as stated in your little network group probably refers to your graduating year.
You have posted in here that your little group on mIRC is full of people with masters in economics and marketing yet you have not achieved your Bachelors.
You sir have been exposed as a fraud and I think I speak for everyone when I say get the **** out of here with your ridiculous posts and condescension towards everyone.

Sir, that's a preconstructed flash intro that you can find on a website, all you do is enter in a couple of lines of text and it puts it in there for you, he spent no more than 1 minute on that :) Web hosting can be cheap or free and a domain is negligible. It's a joke. rofl

Dear Mr. "beasta",
I believe you might have misinterpreted my proposal.
Unlike before, when my associate Mr. Osborne posted our proposal to Mr. Lake, this time we decided to make a proposal to the community at large, in an attempt to not only try jump starting our business, but to also offer the community a nice Christmas gift. We are sponsoring teams with web hosting and web design. We are not offering our team to Mr. Lake, we are trying to help out others this Christmas.
The only reason I mentioned Mr. Lake in my initial post was to point out that our proposal to him before was not our only option. We are prepared to take on any challenge, and although having Mr. Lake on our sides would have made things much easier, we are ready to move forward.
Thank you,

Dear Mr. Kicked Your Ass (If that is your real name...),
I appreciate you taking your time to potentially expose me for the fraud that I could be. Hopefully though, after reading this message, you will understand that I am not the fraud you make me out to be.
I will attempt to offer a point-by-point counter-argument. So, naturally, I will start with point one. First off, I take offense by you calling my post here "nonsense". I am posting on the Complexity Forums because of the high traffic it receives with this traffic containing our prime demographic: 18-24 year old video gamers. I also posted this on other eSports Gaming websites, sir, in hopes of publicizing our organization's name. As for sponsoring a top tier team, I could have sought out top tier teams to get our name better recognition, but one of the values we hold dear to us at The Businessmen is helping the little guy, so to speak. We are the underdog in our field, and it only seems fitting that we help out the underdogs in the eSports community as well. So we chose not to deal with the professional teams and their representatives, we chose to deal with lesser known teams to give them a fighting chance and to even the playing field for them.
As for your second point, you could not be further from the truth, sir. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Mr. Lake, I was posting what I said for the community's benefit. Many people here remember what my colleague Mr. Andy Osborne posted a few weeks ago, and I wanted to update any viewers of that thread that we are doing just fine on our own. I was trying to assure readers that we are financially stable without the support we were seeking a few weeks ago, but I guess that message was lost on you. I am sorry I could not make that clear enough for you. My apologies.
I thank you for your third point. That is a mistake on our part, as we were moving office locations. At the time of purchasing our domain just recently, we were moving out of our makeshift office at 358 DuBray Manor Dr., Collierville, TN 38017. We are still settling into our offices and I can assure you, we will correct any mistakes we can.
As for point number four, I do not think having an email address we pay for makes any difference whatsoever as to the professionalism of our organization. I could just have easily used support@the-businessmen.com, which by the way would be free with our hosting plan, but I prefer the ease of use with Gmail, so I set us up accounts with their service. If you still feel that I should pay for email, then I apologize because I respectfully disagree. For something as miniscule in importance as the brand email provider used, I will choose what is easy for me to use.
As for your fifth and final point, unfortunately that is not me. As to why this Derek is in a group called Memphis, TN, I am unaware. I unfortunately do not own a Facebook or Myspace, as I graduated six years ago from Dartmouth.
Hopefully now you understand that I am not the fraud you made me out to be. I am not offended, though, by your efforts because I would want a real fraud to be exposed for who he was. Though I am offended by your final remarks made towards me about leaving the forums and to quit my ridiculous posting and to stop being condescending. I assure you, my posts are in no way ridiculous, and my posts could not be farther from condescending. I am reaching out to the community in an attempt to help out up-and-coming teams, I do not see how that is condescending.
Please re-read my original post and see if you can comprehend my message clearer this time. I feel like you have misinterpreted my goal.
Thank you,

Unfortunately, I do not know of this Dick A. D'Angelo that you speak of. I am aware of D'Angelo's Sandwich Shop. Very good sandwiches.
Also, due to a conflict of values, I would appreciate it if you would ignore any posts I make from here on out. I prefer to only deal with mature professionals, and after running a background check and speaking with some of my business associates, I have been informed that you, Mr. Wilson, are an advocate of cheating in online gaming, and have been banned from Valve's AntiCheat System known as VAC numerous times. You also have been banned from the Cyberathlete Amateur League for cheating violations. I am sorry, but cheating in any measure, whether it is an online gaming league or a multimillion dollar scam, is looked down upon by us Businessmen, and I would appreciate it if we could both just go our seperate ways. Also, I have been informed that you are an advocate of CSProMod, which I have been told is a joke in the gaming community. Someone with the lack of vision you portray is not likely to be doing business with my organization, so I would like for the remainder of this thread to be kept to its original purpose: sponsorship information.

Dear Mr. Sutphin, Merry Christmas
I've reviewed your proposal and have decided to fill out an application for my gaming team to receive a Game Server sponsorship.
My organization, #teamgsc, is truly one that was when in it's prime, tops in the North American region. By qualifying for WCG through the online qualifiers, we took down such top teams as MissedMe with ease. We're a group of hard working individuals that will stop at nothing to achieve our goals, such as your organization, Businessmen. The webspace is something we don't need at the moment, but a game server would do us much help as we need a place to practice and hone our strategies to be successful in league play once again. All members took a hiatus from CS, but now we're back and believe we can once again make a giant splash in the community.
Thanks for reading this application and hope to hear from your people soon.
Sincerely, Team GSC member "koarce".

This tells alot... You have been told by your associates that he is a joke? and have also been informed that he was an advocate for CSProMod.
Lets make 2 things clear :
1. Apparently you cannot do anything on your own and need someones opinion for everything. Unlike Mr.Wilson here, you had to ask someone to search him up. Shows great leadership there.
2. CSProMod was highly anticipated by the gaming community, the flop of it on the other hand was not. So why would you judge someone that was taking part in it when everyone in the community was waiting for it to come out
With these facts, I can deduct that you are a complete no-brainer that has no idea about the competitive gaming scene. Now go back to ur computer screen and admire the Flash animation (THAT YOU DID NOT CREATE) that was made for actual companies and not half completed multi-gaming failures.

Dear Mr. Tom Wilson,
I can assure you that if any changes have been made to this user's Facebook website, it was not of my influence. That does seem like an odd coincidence, perhaps you overlooked facts? I would suggest double checking your statistics, and if this person did in fact leave both groups you mentioned, then that is truly remarkable.

Dear Mr. "jfouellet",
I will refer to each of your points, so please take the time to read this post in its entirety.
For your first point, about me not doing any work, I am a very busy man. I am dedicated to providing quality service to my clients. I work non-stop to ensure that my customers experience the finest service they have ever received from a company. This means that I cannot spend time every day on a video game forum responding to posts attacking my integrity and honesty, as well as doing research on the users I am responding to so I can be as informed as possible when I reply. For this reason, I ask my employees, who I hired to work for me (in case you are unsure of what an employee is) to do my research for me in their downtime. These members are very competent and do a wonderful job day in and day out. I back these kids 100%, and have no doubts that their work has been impeccable. Which leads me to your second point...
Let me preface the following statements by saying that, this morning, I came into work an hour early to do my own research on the following topic after I read your posts this morning.
You say that CSProMod was highly anticipated by the gaming community. And that is very true. CSProMod was anticipated as the saving grace to return Counter-Strike:Source closer to its predecessor, Counter-Strike 1.6. This leads me to believe that those involved in the support for CSProMod had abandoned any hopes for keeping Counter-Strike 1.6 as their game of choice. Yes, this was initiated as the CPL picked up CS:Source as an event game, but if I am not mistaken, CS 1.6 was still an event game as well. From what I have gathered from my research, Counter-Strike:Source is a game marketed towards players who play casually in public servers, and Counter-Strike 1.6 is the game preferred by professionals, and has been for years. Bring up The CGS is you want, but the bottom line on that endeavor was that sponsors were more interested in a new game than an older game, despite the communities involved in both. Money was what drove managers to The CGS and Source, not the love of the game played.
Now, as far as supporting CSProMod, I have asked several well-off members of the Counter-Strike community, none of whom participated in such support. These members continued supporting CS 1.6 during its hard times, because they said they knew it was a superior game to Source. Some of those that I asked actually had switched to CS:Source and The CGS, and these players commented saying that Source is just a terrible game. These players have recently returned to CS 1.6.
As far as supporting CSProMod in its early days, from what I have gathered, the majority of the competitive gaming scene at the time was against such a measure, and was more for anything against CS:Source. If I am wrong, well then I am wrong, but in my professional opinion, when something is supported by the majority and it fails, it is not made a mockery of. With CSProMod, its failure was humiliating to say the least. This leads me to believe that the majority of competitive and professional Counter-Strike players shunned CSProMod, while a select few individuals praised it. But again, that is based off my experience with corporations and establishments that have been highly touted and failed, not with a software development.
As for your final statements, that I am a "complete no-brainer that has no idea about the competitive gaming scene", I will say that you could not be farther from the truth. As I do with all business ventures I dive into, I take full pride in teaching myself all about the topic at hand. I know plenty about competitive Counter-Strike, otherwise I would not have hired an eSports organization to play under our name. I have learned a lot in my time about the competitive gaming scene, and take offense to your petty name calling. As far as the animation, we purchased that template years ago for a sister company we were creating at the time, and since that was short-lived, we decided to use it here as well. Nowhere did we state that we created our flash intro, so to emphasize the fact that it was pre-built is insignificant.
I hope I have cleared things up, and I hope the remainder of this thread can be focused on our sponsorship offer and not petty arguments against our integrity.
Respectfully,
Derek Sutphin

my apologies. i meant to ask you whether you knew her personally and still kept in touch. she was a close friend of mine and i was wondering what she was up to. it was foolish of me to ask you if you had taken courses with her seeing as how she doesn't offer any courses, at least back when i attended dartmouth.
surely you know professor bhattacharya and professor edmonds then? from my knowledge, every business student had to take an economics course with them. you had to have remembered professor edmonds. he was quite the joker.

Sir,
Before quizzing me on who I have and have not taken class from, why don't you explain how a 19 year old, about to turn 20, knows so much about the college life? Phrases like "back when i attended dartmouth" do not hold much value when it is still illegal for you to consume alcohol.
Why is it you are so adamant about proving me a fraud? Why are you willing to lie over the internet instead of just trust me? What is it about my intentions that irritates you so much? All I want to do is offer teams a sponsorship, and yet you and so many others are out to get me for some reason. This, I do not understand. Unless everyone here has a change of heart, I will be ignoring all posts other than serious sponsorship applicants.
Good day.

i must admit, i'm honored that you took the time to look up my birthday. or at least what you thought was my birthday. the birthday associated with "bLuehaT" is my son's birthday. i'm sure you'll wish him a happy birthday when the time comes.
as for me, my birthday is nowhere near what you think it is. feel free to use google and try to figure it out. i've known ms. bell since her days as a professor at yale and i've been keeping in touch ever since. i knew she was at the tuck school of business and my son knew as well. i took him there to visit her during the oh so dreadful college choosing process two years ago. he figured he would use that connection to see if you actually attended the school. that is how i got pulled into this.
now that i've explained myself, i believe it is your turn. it is your choice, but let me tell you this... your credibility depends on it. best of luck.

Sir,
I find it very hard to believe that the father of a 19 year old boy would care so much about proving someone he does not know a fraud on the internet. And simply claiming that you are some age is no evidence and convinces no one of your true age or identity. And I understand the same goes for me, but unlike the users posting ignorant posts on here, I did not come to this forum to prove anything to anyone. I came here simply to offer a sponsorship or two, and almost immediately the users here have gone to incredible lengths to try to prove me to be someone I am not.
Now, I normally do not resort to assumptions, but the users on this thread claim very often (or at least, from the little I have read it seems to be often) that they are better or more mature than the users that post on another forum I posted this announcement on: GotFrag.
My question to you users is this: what is so hard about seeing this message for what it is? A sponsorship announcement in an attempt to offer something to the community? Assume I am the fraud that you all so very much believe me to be. Some users here (wilsonIFL) did the seemingly extensive research and found an inaccurate address associated with our website. Our website that we are using to host clan websites, a few of which are going to be from the sponsorships we are offering. Now, does it matter whether I am a 29 year old graduate of Dartmouth, or if I was what another user assumed (a half naked teenager starved for e-attention)? I think not. Regardless of who I might actually be, my message and my goal is still the same.
If I were to come into this situation unbiased, I would have to say that the users and staff on this website are much more immature than any website I have been to, at least eSports related. I think you each need to take a look at yourselves, and do some real deep soulsearching. Do you always treat businessmen such as myself who are attempting to make a completely selfless offer with such negativity and disdain? If so, I pity you. I pity your personal and professional lives. I pity those that you hold dear, that they must put up with such pessimism on a daily basis.
For those of you that sat back and said nothing, I appreciate it. Whether you remained silent due to disbelief or acceptance of myself and my business, I thank you for not attempting to prove me to be someone I am not, and to try to ruin my name publicly.
I say this as a last message to those ignorant posters on this board, if you still refuse to believe that I am the businessman that I say I am, well then good riddance. I hope you enjoy the rest of your lives. I only wish that you could have been slower to snap judgements and simply accepted the proposal I offered. I honestly see no point in acting the way that you all have acted to a business proposal. You say that you are more mature than other eSports forums, but I must say that of the six that I posted this proposal on, the Complexity Forums have been the absolute most immature and negative forums that have responded. That goes for staff and users alike. I hope you all are proud of yourselves, you are all extremely ignorant.
I apologize for name calling but this has been a most unpleasant experience. Like I suggested, you all need to look at yourselves in the mirror before claiming you are more mature than anyone. If anyone has any serious business offers, I am sorry. I am closing my doors to this poor excuse of a community.
Good day.

I find it very hard to believe that the father of a 19 year old boy would care so much about proving someone he does not know a fraud on the internet.
like i stated before, my son brought me into this. the fact that i'm continuing this is all due to curiosity.
And simply claiming that you are some age is no evidence and convinces no one of your true age or identity.
i am not trying to convince anyone. you incorrectly labeled me as a 19 year old and i simply pointed you out on a mistake. if you are referring to when i stated that i had attended dartmouth, feel free to look me up. you can even send a message to ms. bell as confirmation. i'm sure she remembers me. there is even an alumni page on the dartmouth website for alumni only. i can happily log into it and take screenshots to satisfy you.
I came here simply to offer a sponsorship or two, and almost immediately the users here have gone to incredible lengths to try to prove me to be someone I am not.
surely a man with a business degree such as yourself would know that publicizing a business proposal of this type, especially to this degree, isn't exactly the ideal approach. i am curious as to what you thought you'd gain from this and what your expectations were. you would be a fool not to expect people trying to prove you a fraud, especially when there is so much that questions your credibility.
Now, does it matter whether I am a 29 year old graduate of Dartmouth, or if I was what another user assumed (a half naked teenager starved for e-attention)? I think not. Regardless of who I might actually be, my message and my goal is still the same.
it is statements like this that make me question the existence of your business degree. it is not necessarily your message or your goal that we doubt, it is more your ability to follow through with whatever you have proposed. and yes, your ability to follow through (what we perceive of it) will vary greatly from a 29 year old graduate of dartmouth to a half naked teenager.
Do you always treat businessmen such as myself who are attempting to make a completely selfless offer with such negativity and disdain?
no business proposal is selfless. we are approaching it with negativity because of the way you are presenting your proposal. but if putting the blame on us makes you sleep better at night, by all means do it. your business won't be too successful though.
I apologize for name calling but this has been a most unpleasant experience. Like I suggested, you all need to look at yourselves in the mirror before claiming you are more mature than anyone. If anyone has any serious business offers, I am sorry. I am closing my doors to this poor excuse of a community.
such an eloquent exit. however, you're missing one thing.. the actual exit itself. it appears you're stilling watching this thread. your words have lost their credibility. you might as well say good riddance to your business.
oh, and i must say.. your attempt to avoid my questions about your supposed days at dartmouth have failed. i am still awaiting an answer.
