For those of you who are not aware, HoN(Heroes of Newerth) is a dota clone and has been around for a little over a year now. I am rather surprised coL has not picked up a team yet due to the vast amount of tournaments and the other sponsors that exist in the game(EG, SK, MSI, Online Kingdom, The Source of Gaming, Reason Gaming, Duskbin, Competo, etc). I was just personally wondering does coL plan on picking up a HoN team?

To be honest, it would make more sense now just to wait until Dota 2 is released and pick up a Dota 2 team opposed to a HoN team. Reasoning behind this (I might be completely wrong) is that the HoN community and teams are very competition based, and many switched from Dota to HoN at its release. Therefore, once Dota 2 is released (Speculated to be released fourth quarter 2011) it is likely that many will swap from HoN to Dota 2.

Just my thoughts, I could be completely wrong though.

While at the same time i agree with you and see where you are coming from, I kind of don't. The best option would probably be to just pick up a HoN team until Dota2 tournaments start coming out. Huge titles like dota usually don't make the first release date, so no one can really predict when the game will ACTUALLY come out.

Well its easy. There are bigger and higher paying championship tournaments for LoL than there is for HoN right now. Such as dreamhack, IEM, etc. There is no prize pot worth supporting a team for in HoN. That is why leagues is being supported. You can disagree or agree, either way that is the cold hearted truth.

While you are right in saying that is was a lot more obvious to support LoL, there is really no reason to not support HoN. There are tons of hon tournaments coming up, DH 2011 Summer(Decent Prize pool), Hon Super Series(Lans to follow), DH 2011 Winter(which supposedly will have a lot bigger prize pool) and two LANs for hon just took place, Gamers Assembly and something else

There is no point to have a HoN team + a LoL team.. They picked up LoL so it doesn't look like HoN is going to be picked up.

hon and lol are two separate games:], you can have both team (ex. sk)

You can but there is no point... They are one in the same

While one would think they are the same due to them being MOBAs, each game's gameplay is vastly different to the other (aside from the basic concept) along with very different communities. The fanbase of LoL is more numerous and casual (generalization, not all), opposed to HoN where it is smaller, but very hardcore.

I played HoN since beta and played years of Dota as well. I know they are greatly different. What you fail to realize is that the current prize pool and amount of tournaments and revenue that LoL is bringing in, is completely greater than any HoN team is bringing in. Also, what people fail to realize, is that if Jason and his staff want to pick up a team; they approach those players. Not the other way around. Obviously Jason and the staff know what they want, so that is why they have what they want. There is no debating this subject any further than it has been debated and discussed. No current change in outcome will come from it. So the subject is dropped.

PS: I am not trying to be a dickface, this is just how things work.

they are so not... they are the same genre and use some of the same skill sets, but they are definitely not the same game.

Personally I really can't stand LoL. Thank god I have HoN to play until DotA 2 comes out.

Well if your good at DotA you will be good at HON and vice versa they may be different in a lot of ways but the fundamentals are still the same. HON is essentially dota 1.5, also supposedly there are some large tournaments coming out for HON soon.

League of Legends on the other hand is quite different from HON & DotA, that being said most pro level hon/dota players if they transfer to LoL will get to the highest level of play quite quickly. A friend of mine from SK(one of the top HON teams), transferred to LoL and he was able to get to top 30 on the ladder in a little over a month with no previous LoL experience.
