Jason said at the end of the interview that a lot of the CS guys have grown up and moved on, but I just had to register this account to say we're still out there. Sure we're working full time, but every now and then we load up a pub and ace a whole team while running our own commentary pretending we're in the CPL... No? No one else? Just me? Well shit.
Anyway Jason we're still out there. Every time I look at the MLG SC2 crowd I write a quick email to Gabe Newell and beg for a Counter-Strike 2 and an FPS revival. I do love watching SC2, even if I don't play, but team play is where it is at.
I remember when my team played Complexity in Cal IM all those years ago. Those were the days. I better stop reminiscing before I get saddened.
One day the revival will happen and we shall meet on the digital battlefields once again.

One can only wish... The revival is long overdue my friend. CS: 2 should have already been released.

Every now and then I contemplate writing Gabe a 60 page dissertation regarding how to construct the next Counter-Strike in such a way that it will be a huge retail hit, but also preserve everything that made Counter-Strike the perfect competitive game. I believe a lot of players know they love Counter-Strike above all other shooters, but I don't know if everyone can articulate as to why it is perfect. Maybe I'll write it up and see if you guys want to publish it. It's just a matter of finding the time. Damn you 40 hour work week plus 2 hour a day commute!

After watching the Jason Lake interview, I immediately watched both compLexity Redemption and compLexity Armageddon. Wow have the years flown by. I remember calling out of work just so I can watch compLexity play. I do hope Valve does something with CS.

I remember being excited when coL placed better than 3D at CPL. It felt like I was vindicated and I didn't know anyone from either team hahaha. The most recent interview of JLake @ MLG makes me excited, even though I love SC2 now Counter-Strike is that first love that I'll never forget. I guess since 1's really back I'm going to start visiting this site everyday again. I want to see him stand behind one of his SC2 players and scream "Bring me the pistols!" would make me smile.

That would be funny.
Perhaps he could do that with HoN since it will be making appearances at MLG events.
The CS fans are still here.

I remember when Col started pulling ahead of 3D and I was so livid because our team beat Col in IM like in 2001. It was like, "WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?" Over night my mind was blown. I can't remember if 3D was called X3 back then or what. I just remember thinking Miller was unbeatable and excited to see new players bring him down.
Super nice to know coL's CS fans are still around! :)
You guys have been pretty quiet (given we haven't had much luck with CS since CGS) so it's wonderful to see you posting.
CS for life! :)

I'd really love to mention E-@thletes that documented Team 3D and Complexity during their hunt to be the top Counter-Strike team in 2006. It makes you relieve some amazing moments in the NA CS scene.
You can watch the whole movie online: http://www.megavideo.com/?v=LRY5JA8V

I definitely will watch all these this weekend. Hell, maybe even tonight. Maybe even the fiancee will enjoy it.

CS for life indeed. Still one of the most competitive titles out there - argue that point with the current Halo and CoD players and they think it's some sort of joke. ESEA seems to be all NA CS players truly have. =(

I think the only thing left to do is start a petition to ask Valve to get going on CS2. WHO'S WITH ME?

I want CS2 as much as the next guy, but do we really trust that Valve can make a legitimate sequel? What Blizzard did with SC2 is unbelievable, they combined a perfect mix of old and new and really catered to esports. Idk maybe it's just me but Valve never ceases to disappoint me :(

Hey guys just wanted to let you know i also just watched the interview, I just made this account to show my support aswell. Thanks for the shout out Jason, I am still kicking around in the source community and as much as i agree with you that it's best days are over. I can see life coming back to it, I know alot of people are anticipating the CS:2 release.
Team Complexity was not my favorite team, EFGaming was :) BUT Complexity was right behind them. The best part i'd have to say being a fan back in the day was getting the chance to frag some of the members in the NFO Meltdown server every once in awhile.
Watching videos like Redemption is what keeps me coming back to this game, you'll forever have my support in the future in the ESports Community. Thanks for getting back in the game sir and goodluck.

I'm a counter-strike player and I too just finished watching Jason Lake's interview. Every word he spoke had a special meaning to me. Throughout watching i went through feelings of nostalgia, joy, sadness, disappointment, hope. I was around 12 when compLexity started and I was really into the e-sports scene(which for many years meant counter-strike). I would be on my computer like a nerd for hours pubbing, pugging, ringing, scrimming, practicing, playing cs. When mIRC actually had people, and the drama that came with team channels as CAL playoffs came by. My parents called it a pointless waste of time, and at the time, I didn't know what to call it, but I did know that I am going to be a pro gamer some day.
8 years later, and 20 years old. I now know, that it's called, "passion". When Jason Lake thanked the counter-strike fans, and talked about how we've all just grown up and moved on to other things. My respect for him skyrocketed. I've moved on to Starcraft2 and only play counter-strike from time to time. But sc2 will never give me the same feeling of when counter-strike was at it's prime. I've just felt so disconnected from e-sports now compared to before. And to have him mention counter-strike as the roots of e-sports made me feel proud to have been a part of it.
To Jason "1" Lake, I'm going to be a pro gamer on coL someday. Then I'll finally be able to meet the man that did so much for e-sports. As long as people with that much passion is going to be around, I will never have to fear esports dying. GLHF.
