Personally, the way I say to get better at Photoshop or anything like that is just practice. Tutorials are nice and all but until you get a feel for how to manipulate the tools to get the effect you want you won't really be learning much.

I actually tried the gloss effect but it made it hard to blend the icons inside of it so I decided to just leave it as is.
