I’d like to start this blog off with a witty comment like Derek, but I don’t think I’m nearly as creative so let’s just delve into the subject at hand: saying goodbye to my longtime teammate Jeff “Hero” Mettetal and a big welcome to our new teammate Derrick “Impulsive” Truong! I wanted to give everyone a little bit more background on the entire situation and my thoughts on the switch. To start off, it’s been understandably tough for me and my teammates to see Jeff go as, for me personally, we’ve played CS together for over 4 years now. The major factor behind him having to step down was a new promotion he received at his job – a job where he was already making over six figures a year. With his new promotion, Jeff was going to have to take repeated trips across the country and would not be able to commit as much time to the team as before.
It’s obviously going to be quite tough to lose such a talented player, close friend, and loyal teammate, but I really believe adding Impulsive should help us rebound as fast as possible. Derrick is an extremely experienced player and seems to have a personality that meshes quite well during practice. Derrick is also a loud player on LAN and plays with a lot of heart – factors that I hope will help push us over the edge in Germany in a month (IEM Finals in Hannover the first week in March). We’re 2-0 in matches so far with Derrick so hopefully we can continue that trend as we finish out the ESEA regular season and start CEVO-professional play.
Well, that’s all for now. Let me know if you guys want me to include anything in futures blogs (CS tips, what players are REALLY like, strange rashes I’ve had lately, etc.)!
