An actual gaming vest, created by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania will allow gamers to immerse themselves in the virtual world, feeling every shot, stab or hit on their body. The tactile vest simulates the effect of an impact in real-time using four solenoid actuators. Military leaders have also shown interest in the vest, as it can be modified for ultra-realistic simulation of a battle. One of the developers had this to say:
The idea is to develop a haptic interface for first person shooting games,” says Saurabh Palan, a graduate student at the university who is working on the project, on his website. “The feeling of bullet hit, body impact and vibration or a shoulder tap will enhance the gaming experience and fun.

Very cool. I agree with Jdubya tho. It would need to register where on your body your being hit, then give you a sensation in that area. It's a very cool idea tho. It reminds me of the movie StarShip Troopers when they are playing the really intense lazer tag. Anyone...Anyone?
