COMPLEXITY GAMING ANNOUNCES COMPLEXITY STARS HBCU REBIRTH RUMBLE HOSTED BY J.R. SMITH ON FEBRUARY 28

Former NBA Guard to Headline $10,000 Warzone Tournament with Pro Athletes, Call of Duty Creators, and HBCU Students in Celebration of Black History Month

FRISCO, Texas – February 17, 2022 – Complexity Gaming, a GameSquare Esports company and one of North America’s longest-standing esports organizations, today announced Complexity Stars HBCU Rebirth Rumble, an online Call of Duty: Warzone tournament hosted by Complexity Star athlete and two-time NBA champion J.R. Smith. In celebration of Black History Month, students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) will have an opportunity to play alongside their favorite athletes and Call of Duty influencers and take home their share of a $10,000 prize pool.

“As a student at NC A&T, I’m eager to find new ways to engage with my peers,” said J.R. Smith. “Thanks to my partnership with Complexity Stars, we were able to make the Rebirth Rumble possible and give students a unique opportunity to compete alongside world class athletes and top Call of Duty content creators.”

Taking place on February 28, Complexity Stars athletes will be joined by HBCU students and top gaming personalities in a 3-vs.-3 Warzone competition. Each trio, captained by Complexity Stars athletes and Call of Duty influencers, will compete against one another across eight matches of Rebirth mode. Baka Bros creator LuckyChamu will serve as a guest caster throughout the event.

Smith’s vision for the Complexity Stars HBCU Rebirth Rumble is something that Complexity and the GameSquare team were deeply supportive of,” said Duane “Zeno” Jackson, Head of Complexity Stars. “We’re looking forward to bringing more opportunities like this to life in the future and continuing to support diversity and inclusivity in both esports and traditional sports.”

Following his work to develop and launch the Complexity Stars program in November 2021, Duane “Zeno” Jackson will serve as the new Head of Complexity Stars to create long-term gaming strategies for athletes, celebrities, and musicians to engage the next generation of fans. Jackson previously served as the Director of Athlete & Celebrity Relations at FaZe Clan.

Boom.TV will manage operations and production for the online tournament. Fans can tune into the Complexity Stars HBCU Rebirth Rumble Hosted by J.R. Smith on Complexity’s official Twitch channel at 11 AM PT on February 28.
